Reactive Lightpavillion – Diploma 2020

The physical environment as well as a room’s atmosphere has a significant effect on its occupants. The same situation can be processed and handled differently, depending on the effect of the space.  The degree of communication or interaction depends on the influence of the environment on the actors. An architecture that refers to its environment and the people within, reacts or even interacts, and can thus become part of the communication chain. Such a space can be described as a thematic bracket, which has a focusing element regardless of the medium with which it interacts.

„Costae“ is an interactive lightweight architecture, situated in the KunstKulturKirche Allerheiligen during Luminale Frankfurt 2020. The pavilion’s design consists of a supporting structure and a reactive membrane, enabling visitors within to communicate with the space. Movement, light and a multidimensional projection combine to create an immersive experience.
